The luzerne is the oldest forage crop ever.
The Persians fed it already 500 BC.their horses. Today luzerne is often represented as a structural supplement in numerous cereal mixes. Due to its valuable feed properties, such as high-quality protein, ß-carotene, vitamins and minerals, lucern is also in pure form in the horse feed of great importance.

Especially for breeding, sport and young horses luzerne represents an ideal concentrated feed. A significant advantage of lucern is that it does not pollute the digestive tract and metabolism of the horse, as is the case with the grain feeding. Nevertheless, it provides enough energy.

Furthermore, the high calcium content of alfalfa allows to balance phosphorus-containing rations, which arise with a rich cereal feeding, and thus to bring the Ca: P ratio back into equilibrium. The calcium contained in luzerne is an important component of healthy bone growth in young horses and prevents bone damage in sport and performance horses.

The gentle drying and processing of the entire plant retains nutrients and vitamins.
